Aside from iMessage and Kik, WhatsApp is one of the most popular third-party messaging applications available for both iOS and Android devices. This instant messaging app makes it possible to send text messages, attachments, and audio files, without having to worry about network fees – the app is popularly used as a cross-platform messaging app. Just like iMessage, users are frequently sending sentimental messages or photos on WhatsApp and as a result, knowing how to WhatsApp backup and restore is important.
Some people use WhatsApp for business; others use it for personal usage – regardless of why you use WhatsApp and how important the messages are, you should take the time to back up your messages and attachments frequently. Similarly, we are going to be focussing the following section on how to WhatsApp backup for Android devices. The two methods below are similar to the iOS methods, although are simply adjusted.
What many people aren't aware of is that even though there isn't an Android equivalent of iTunes, it's just as easy to take and restore backups of your data. A lot of Android users will choose to use their Google Drive account for a WhatsApp backup, and that's the first solution that we're going to look at.
A. Free Way to Backup and Restore WhatsApp
As we said above, the most common solution is to use Google Drive. Fortunately, just like with iCloud, the Android version of WhatsApp has a Google Drive feature already implemented into it.

Step #2 – Using the menu shown at the bottom, tap on “Settings” followed by “Chats and Calls” and “Chat Backup“.
Step #3 – Next, select “Chat Backup” and from here, edit the backup settings to suit your preferences before tapping on “Back Up“.
Note: we recommend that you set your WhatsApp chats to be backed up to Google Drive at least once a week; if not more frequently.
Step #4 – For those of you who are connected to a Wi-Fi connection, this should only take a few minutes. If you are using your mobile data then it will take significantly longer – once the data has been backed up, you're done.
The main problem with using this method Is that your data will take a significant amount of time to upload your data to Google Drive. To help you decide if this is the method for you, below we have assembled a list of pros and cons.

- No option to selectively backup your WhatsApp data.
- Must be connected to a stable internet connection.
